Thursday, September 16th

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Turns 30!

Join Sierra Nevada founder, Ken Grossman, as he and homebrew guru and Brewers Association president, Charlie Papazian,  talk about the last 30 years of Sierra Nevada and the pioneering of the craft beer movement.  Besides hearing stories and adventures from two of the pioneers of the craft beer movement, attendees will also have the chance to sample special release beers from the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary line.

7:30 – 8:00 pm

Sour Power

Each year, “sour beers”, or spontaneously fermented, wild bacteria beers, gain a larger following from beer drinkers.   Lauren Salazar (New Belgium Brewing Co.), Jason Yester (Trinity Brewing), and Ron Gansberg (Cascade Brewing Co.) all team up to discuss these exciting beers and give attendees the chance to taste these funky beer offerings.

8:30 – 9:00 pm

Sustainable Brewing Practices

Jim Spencer (New Belgium Brewing Company), Christian Ettinger (Hopworks Urban Brewery), and Steve Dressler (Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.)  team up to talk about what breweries are doing  to lessen their impact on the environment and the creative ways they have come up with to address sustainable brewing practices.  You’ll also get a chance to sample some beer from these eco-friendly breweries.

Friday, September 17th

6:30 – 7:00 pm

International Brewing Collaborations

U.S. craft brewers know how to play well with others and for years they’ve been collaborating on recipes and traveling to each other’s breweries to brew beer.  But that wasn’t enough. Today they are taking their brewing collaborations to Europe and beyond to team up with international brewers on exciting and exotic beers.  Floris DeLee (Dogfish Head Craft Brewery), Anders Kissmeyer (Nørrebro Bryghus), and Mitch Steele (Stone Brewing Co.) talk about the trials and tribulations of brewing with an international counterpart and offer attendees a taste into these exciting collaborations.

The Brewers’ Feud

100 people were surveyed and the top 5 answers are on the board!  Step into the Brewers Studio Pavilion for our take on the Family Feud as we pit a faction of East Coast (Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant)  & West Coast (21st Amendment Brewery) brewers against each other in an evening sure to make Richard Dawson proud.  Come in and have some laughs and sample some beers.

You Too Can Brew

Do you really enjoy beer, but think there’s no way you could ever make anything as tasty yourself?  Homebrewing legends Jim Koch (Sam Adams founder and brewer) and Charlie Papazian (president and founder of the Brewers Association and American Homebrewers Association) talk about how easily you can be making beer yourself in no time.  ,Come in and enjoy a beer and dispel those myths that making great tasting beer is difficult.

Craft Beer in the Media

Craft beer media has kept beer drinkers connected to their favorite breweries, helped them discover new beers and beer destinations, and educated us on all things craft beer. Join a few of the most prominent writers, journalists, bloggers and broadcasters for a discussion on how their particular form of media has helped drive the craft beer movement and forged new ground in ways to communicate about beer. Ask the panel about what they do and why it works, or just sit back and learn about the many new ways you can stay in touch with craft beer at home, and on the go.

Be A Beer Activist!

Do you like good beer?  Do you want your opinion to be heard? With the ever-changing political landscape, it’s never been more important for craft beer drinkers to speak with a coherent, effective voice.  Come sit in on this panel and find out easy ways you can make your voice heard and help out those breweries you love.
