Good cheese returns to GABF

While almost everyone comes to the festival for the beer, the American Cheese Society’s (ACS) booth is a must-try for anyone craving a quick snack. With a selection that would knock the socks off even Wallace and Gromit, the ACS is sure to have something you’ll enjoy, whether it’s a creamy chevre or a sharp cheddar. If you’ve made it to one of the last two GABFs, you’ve seen how popular their booth can be. So how much cheese is really needed to feed hordes of hungry beer lovers? The ACS serves 650 pounds of cheese at the festival. The cows have a lot of work to do to produce the 520 gallons of milk required to make that supply, especially considering that the average cow produces only eight gallons of milk per day. Fortunately, we’re up to the task as the U.S. is the world’s top cheese producer in the world, churning out 2 billion pounds of cheese annually, with help from about 9 million dairy cows. So grab a toothpick and dig in! You don’t have to be a British claymation character to savor the flavor of cheese and its best pairing—beer!
